セッカ
可愛い小鳥といえば、先ず頭に浮かぶのはコサメビタキだ。ジョウビタキのメス
も可愛さでは劣らない。オスは色彩的には奇麗であるが、目付きが鋭いので、
怖く感じることさえある。小さな野鳥のメスは一般的に可愛いものだ。
ヒタキの仲間はくるっと大きな目をしており、可愛いものが多い。
その中でもコサメビタキは最高だ。顔の大きさに比べ目が大きく見える。
その目がパッチリ開いて、それはそれは可愛いものだ。
大型の野鳥は怖い顔をしたものが多い。タカやワシの類は言うに及ばず、
大型のサギのアオサギも相当怖い表情をみせる。
コウノトリとなれば、目尻が尖って赤くなっていてやはり怖い顔といえる。
小さければみんな可愛いかというと、そうでもない。
身近な野鳥で一番小さなミソサザイはさえずりはきれいだが、見た目は汚らしい。
ヒタキ類以外では、エナガが可愛らしさという点で群を抜いている。
ヒタキ類が大きな目をしているのに比べ、エナガの目は、ポチンとくっ付けた
ようなちいさな目だ。体長は尾が長いのでスズメほどだが、ボディは非常に
小さく、それがまた可愛い元になっている。
写真のセッカも可愛い小鳥の一種だ。やはり小さな野鳥だ。スズメより小さい。
可愛いけど見たことのある人は非常に少ないと思う。よほどその気にならないと
目に入らないと思う。
写真は安来干拓地の葦の繁みから飛び出してきたところを撮ったものである。
この場所ではこれまでに3回撮ったことがある。声を聞いたり飛んでいる姿を
見たことは何回もあり、知っている人なら見ることができる野鳥だ。
この日は非常に運がよく、デジスコを手にぶら下げて葦の傍を歩いていたら、
すぐ近くの繁みから一羽のセッカが葦の枯れ枝に飛び移って、少しの時間モデル
になってくれた。ピントを合わせシャッターを
安来のコハクチョウの集まる田圃でもしばしば声を聞いたことがある。
